Prof. HU Xinyang Honored with Chinese Award for Women in Science

SAHZU scientist, cardiologist and vice president Prof. HU Xinyang and her research team were awarded for their remarkable work in cardiac function reconstruction by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the National Commission of China for UNESCO on Saturday in Beijing.

The award is presented to Chinese female scientists for their major breakthroughs in all scientific fields. Another four research teams and twenty individual female scientists were honored in the same event.

The Chinese Award for Women in Science was jointly initiated by ACWF, CAST, the National Commission of China for UNESCO and L'Oréal China in 2004. The award aims to recognize and reward young women scientists who have made significant scientific and technological achievements, and motivate them to continue their scientific careers to achieve more fruitful research results.

So far, a total of 184 women scientists have had the honor in the past 18 years. Nine of them have been elected as academicians and 3 have received the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women In Science International Award in following years.

About Prof. HU Xinyang

Prof. HU completed her medical degree in clinical medicine from Zhejiang University in August 2000 and gained her doctorate degree in internal medicine from Zhejiang University in June 2008.

Prof. HU is the principal investigator of a number of national/provincial level research projects. Her research team has been rewarded the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and the first prize of Zhejiang Province Science and Technology Progress Award.

Prof. HU has published 19 research paper as first or corresponding author in many world-leading journals, including 4 in Circulation Research (2 cover articles). She was the recipient of the Best Manuscript Award from the Circulation Research in 2016. Prof. HU is a member of American Heart Association (AHA) and has been invited to present her research work at scientific meetings of AHA and ACC (American College of Cardiology).

Prof. HU is now the leading investigator of cardiac function reconstruction program of SAHZU.
