ZUSM and the Graduate School,ZJU visited the University of Toronto to sign the Medical + X Degree Ed

From June 19th to June 21st , ZHOU Tianhua, Dean of the Graduate School of ZJU, KE Yuehai, Vice President of ZUSM, and Wang Qingqing, Dean of the School of Basic Medicine, visited the University of Toronto Medical School and met with Lynn Wilson, Associate Dean of the School of Medicine, Leah Cowen, head of the department of Molecular Genetics, and Joseph Ferenbok, director of the Department of Translational Medicine. The two sides formally signed a Medical + X Degree Education Cooperation agreement, and opened a cooperation in the comprehensive talent training system which focusing on translational medicine in the field of precision medicine, including the cooperation of degree programs, teacher training, cross-curricular courses, and double-degree master's and doctoral programs.

After the strategic cooperation between ZJU and the University of Toronto in 2017, the ZUSM and the University of Toronto Medical School successively established the Joint Research Institute of Genetics and Genome and the Joint Research Institute of Neuroscience. The Medical + X Degree Education Program was the third project. The cooperation project aims to promote the comprehensive cooperation between the two medicine schools in the development of innovative talents and globalization.

XUE Fei, deputy director of the International Cooperation Department of ZJU, and TIAN Minjie, project director, accompanied by the visit, Zhong-Ping Feng, director of the International Affairs Department of the University of Toronto Medical Science, Min Zhuo, professor of physiology, Avrum Gotlieb, professor of translational medicine project, and Gwen Burrows, Executive Director of the Department of International Affairs of the University of Toronto, attended the signing ceremony.

During the visit, WANG Qingqing, Dean of the School of Basic Medicine, visited the Department of Laboratorial Medicine and Pathobiology (LMP) of the University of Toronto Medical School, and reached broad consensus with Rita Kandel, the head of the Department of Medicine, on the development of basic medical disciplines, talents training, and collaborative research and bilateral academic seminars.
