Signing Ceremony

On the morning of 4 April 2018, the Signing Ceremony of ZJU4H-UALBERTA FOMD General Practitioner Training Program and Opening Ceremony of ZJU4H-UALBERTA FOMD General Practitioner Training Center were held at Zhejiang University Fourth Hospital. Six foreign guests including Dennis Kunimoto, President of UALBERTA FOMD, and Dr. Lee Green, Chair in the Department of Family Medicine in UALBERTA FOMD, as well as other leaders such as ZHU Hui, Director of Medical Management Office, Zhejiang University, and LUO Xiaojun, Deputy Mayor of Yiwu City, attended the signing ceremony. As reported, this is the first general practitioner training center in central Zhejiang and it will make active and beneficial exploration in building a regional medical center and cultivating talents for healthcare consortium and tiered medical diagnosis and treatment.

President Kunimoto said that they would fully assist ZJU4H in adopting best practices from Canada and even the world, and establishing a general practitioner training course system and training center supported by international standards and suitable for Chinese context. And as told by CHEN Yagang, President of ZJU4H, the background of building ZJU4H has determined that its development has to be made from both international and local level, that is, striving to build the hospital into an institution with notable global features and focusing on advancing development in line with international standards, on the one hand, and standing on the local reality and pushing forward the construction of grassroots medical service system and implementation of tiered medical diagnosis and treatment in Yiwu City, on the other.

Signing of this general practitioner training program and settlement of training center will serve as the bond and bridge between general family medicine of Yiwu and even Zhejiang Province and University of Alberta in Canada, and lay a solid foundation for us to build a general practitioner training course system and training center up to international standards.
